Singer Lalo Rodríguez dies – Telemundo Puerto Rico

The singer Ubaldo “Lalo” Rodríguez, was found lifeless this Tuesday in the parking lot of the Sabana Abajo residence, in Carolina.

According to preliminary information, a call to the 9-1-1 system alerted authorities. A relative arrived at the place, who identified the body.

The cause of death is unknown, which would be certified by the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF).

The salsa singer was 64 years old.

In November, Rodríguez was hospitalized, following being found in what they described as a “catatonic state.”

According to the National Foundation for Popular Culture (FNCP), the professional career of the salsa singer began when he was 12 years old, singing with the group Tempo Moderno.

“In 1973 we shared the stage with the Eddie Palmieri orchestra. I dared to talk to the maestro and asked him to listen to me sing “Sabroso guaguancó”, a number that he had recorded in the 60s. He listened to me and left. six months and Palmieri returned to Puerto Rico to look for me. We agreed. We did a new audition and that’s where Lalo Rodríguez was born, who at that time was called Lolo. My name is Ubaldo. It was Palmieri, when he admitted me to his orchestra, who baptized as Lalo”, recalled the artist in an interview with the FNCP.

Lalo Rodríguez will be remembered for his great successes, such as Come, devour me once more, Máximo Chamorro, enchanted sadness, among others.
