The attacker of Predators de Nashville Michael McCarron joined the NHL and NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
He will be absent for an indefinite period while he receives care, until he receives the green light from the administrators of the program to return to competition.
The Player Assistance Program was established by the NHL and the Players Association in 1996, and a confidential player assistance line is available. This program helps players and their loved ones who are struggling with mental health, addictions and other issues. An advisor is available in each of the cities of the league.
The 27-year-old American has appeared in 15 games with the Preds this season, registering a goal and an assist.
McCarron was chosen 25th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 draft. He has 10 goals and 14 assists in 141 career games with CH and the Predators. He also played in three playoff games.
