guest in What an era! to promote the documentary, Laeticia Hallyday answered questions from Léa Salamé. Among these, the question of infidelity. Jade and Joy’s mother confirmed that she and Johnny had both been unfaithful. “It was he who started“, she specifies, however, before giving further explanations. “I was responsible. I certainly pushed my husband into the arms of another woman because I abandoned myself. I forgot that I had a husband. I thought everything was taken for granted when nothing was taken for granted. Nothing is ever acquired in a couple. It taught me great lessons. Never believe that everything is acquired, this is where you lose everything.”
The cause of his exclusion according to her? Welcoming his great-grandmother and Johnny’s mother to their home. “Eventually, it was almost a nursing home at home. It was I who helped, who was almost a nurse, who cooked and took care of them. I abandoned myself, forgot to take care of others. […] But that is the story of my whole life.”
“I took revenge”
Faced with Johnny’s infidelities, Laeticia did everything to save her couple, even if that meant changing her image. “I suffered from it, I suffered in silence. I said nothing. […] I did everything to get it back. I went to the hairdresser, bought sexier clothes, started wearing heels, took off my glasses and wore contact lenses.”, she declares. “It was a test for me. I didn’t think our story might be so fragile. It taught me great lessons.”
Laeticia Hallyday “thanks“even the girl her husband cheated on her with. “I have a lot of gratitude for her. […] It was an ordeal that saved my marriage.”
As she said at the start of the interview, she admits that she, too, cheated on Johnny. “I took my revenge a few years later, to show myself that I might still seduce. I had a moment of weakness“, she says before adding that when the singer got wind of his infidelity, he took it”very very badly”. “Much worse than me”, she specifies.
