We could not bear the “noise” of the Moroccans… and their running around like “madmen”

Despair and frustration clouded the Portuguese newspapers on the morning of their exit from the World Cup at the hands of the Moroccan national team, following a 1-0 defeat, on Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

The Moroccan national team scored a historic achievement and became the first Arab and African team to reach the golden square of the World Cup, following its exciting victory over its Portuguese counterpart, with the goal of Youssef Al-Nusairi in the 42nd minute.

The newspaper “Record” said: “Portugal did not learn the lesson from the exclusion of Spain, and let itself be excluded from the World Cup… What a despair and frustration.”

As for the “O Jugo” newspaper, it was stated: We still cannot deal with aggressive groups in mass, we must avoid talking regarding the intrigues of the government and deal better with our frustration.

“Publico” headlined: One of the reasons for our defeat was the noise of 35,000 Moroccans, and 11 players who ran like crazy tirelessly for 90 minutes.

The “Zero Zero” sports website praised the “Atlas Lions”: some have big dreams, Seville goalkeeper (Yassin Bounou) conveyed his confidence to all his colleagues, describing Sofiane Amrabat as “the lung of the team” and defender Jawad Al-Yamiq as the ideal alternative.

The Moroccan national team will face its French counterpart in the semi-finals of the tournament on Wednesday.
