National demonstration of December 16: significant consequences expected at Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport is expecting a difficult day on Friday due to the national demonstration organized by the trade unions.

The screening of travelers and the handling of baggage are likely to be particularly affected by the lack of available staff, said an airport spokesperson on Sunday, who called on companies to cut flights.

The common front has called for mobilization in the streets of Brussels to make its demands in terms of purchasing power heard once more: ceiling on energy prices and revision of the wage standard. The government proposal for a check for a maximum of 750 euros for employees of profit-making companies did not convince.

70% fewer thefts

The last day of action dates back to November 9. There is no call for a strike this time, but many workers are likely to strike to demonstrate.

Brussels Airport calls on companies to reduce their flight plan by 70%. The remaining 30% might be operated on without difficulty. Affected passengers will be informed personally in the coming days.
