A large number of science students in the first grade of this year’s college entrance exam…’Invasion of literature’ is likely to intensify

Korean Language Level 1 86% ‘Language and Media’

Mathematics 1st grade 93% ‘calculus and geometry’

Both subjects are taken more by undergraduate students, and standardized scores are also advantageous

The intention to cross-apply for higher-ranking science students is also increasing.

This year, the 2nd year of the Integrated Liberal Arts and Sciences Comprehensive Math Ability Test, the phenomenon of ‘science bias’ was confirmed in the first grade in Korean and mathematics. The number of high-ranking science students who want to cross-apply for liberal arts is expected to increase from last year, so there is a prospect that the so-called ‘literature invasion’ will become more intense.

On the 11th, as a result of analyzing the CSAT scores of 26,000 students from 87 high schools by the Seoul Middle School Education Guidance Research Association, the percentage of students who chose ‘Language and Media’ among students who received the first grade in the Korean language area increased from 70.88% last year to 85.58% this year. increased by nearly a percentage point. In the case of mathematics, 93.45% of the first graders chose ‘calculus’ or ‘geometry’.

The analysis of admissions companies is similar. Jongno Academy analyzed the scores of 4,968 high school seniors and graduates who applied for this year’s college entrance exam, and found that 72.1 percent of the first-class Korean language and media students chose language and media, up from 65.0 percent last year. The percentage of students who chose calculus and geometry among first-grade math students also increased from 85.3% last year to 88.9%.

Students who choose language and media from Korean language and calculus and geometry from mathematics are usually science majors. Jongno Academy calculated that 44.4% of science students and 27.0% of liberal arts students took the language and media test in this year’s CSAT. This is an increase from last year when 35.8% of science students applied for language and media. According to Uwei, the proportion of undergraduates among calculus and geometry test takers was 90.4% and 85.8%, respectively.

In addition, it is analyzed that ‘door and invasion’, which means door and cross application, will become easier as the problem of different merits and disadvantages for each elective subject is repeated in this year’s college entrance exam. This is because the language and media most selected by undergraduate students, and the standard scores of calculus test takers are higher than the standard scores of other subjects. According to Jongno Academy, the highest standard score in the Korean language area was 134 points for language and media, and 130 points for speech and writing, a difference of 4 points. In the mathematics area, the highest standard score for calculus was 145 points, and the highest score for probability and statistics was 142 points, a difference of 3 points.

Jongno Academy conducted a sample survey of 4,908 science students from the 18th of last month to the last 8th. As a result, 27.5% of students with a Korean, math, and inquiry percentile of 270 or higher were willing to cross-apply for liberal arts. was counted as It increased from 19.0% last year. Lim Seong-ho, CEO of Jongno Academy, said, “The structure in which undergraduate students have an advantage in mathematics is appearing as it is, and as more undergraduate students are concentrated in ‘language and media’, undergraduate students can have an advantage in both mathematics and Korean language.” It is clearly showing up.”
