Group (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon proved her global influence.
According to her agency Cube Entertainment on the 11th, Soyeon was the only Korean artist to be nominated for this year’s list of the British magazine ‘Dazed 100’.
‘Dazed 100’ is a campaign in which 100 next-generation figures are selected from various occupational groups that will create youth culture, and among them, the public directly selects and votes on the ranking of the person who will lead the future to select the best one.
Dazed commented on Soyeon, “Kicking down the long-held door for a generation of K-pop female idols yet to come.”
Although Soyeon is a producer idol who takes the lead in producing (G)I-DLE’s albums, she has left a strong impression with her colorful concept albums and performances.
Through (G)I-DLE’s 5th mini album ‘I Love’, released last October, they won 11 awards on music shows, ranked first in 40 regions worldwide in the iTunes top album category, and sold 678,000 copies in the first week of release. It paid off.
‘I Love’ entered the Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ at number 71. The title song ‘Nude’ (Nxde) also surpassed 24 million views in one day following the music video was released.
It entered the ‘Billboard Digital Song Sales’ chart at 13th, ‘Billboard Global 200’ at 50th, and ‘Billboard Global (excluding the US)’ at 198th, and rose 164 places to 34th, proving its global popularity.
