Birmingham: The fifth season of the All UK Christmas Carol Competition jointly organized by Gershom TV and Assafians will be held in Birmingham on Saturday, December 10, bringing together choirs from across the UK. The Whitsun concert will feature young singer and guitarist William Isaac, singer Delsey Nainan and Preeti Santhosh. Fifteen choirs from across the UK will compete in the carol evening at Birmingham Bartley Green King Edward Six Five Ways Grammar School. The carol singing competitions will be followed by a live musical show by London’s leading music band, London Asaphians, featuring a line-up of leading singers and musicians.
As in previous years, the winners of the carol singing competition will be awaited with exciting cash awards and trophies. The winning teams will receive £1000 as first prize, £500 as second prize and £250 as third prize. Also various prizes have been introduced in special categories.
The fourth edition of Joy to the World was crowned by London St. Thomas was a Syrian Orthodox church choir. Midlands Hermon Marthoma Church was second and Coventry Worship Center third.
The Christian Devotional Singing Contest, which was started last season in connection with Joy to the World, will be held this year as well. The contest will start at 12 noon and will be held in three age categories. 5 -10 years, 11 – 16 years, 17 – 21 years. Special awards will be given to the winners of the competition which will have 5 finalists selected from each category.
Joy to the World is being held this year at Birmingham King Edward Grammar School with more facilities. With a spacious auditorium, ancillary facilities and parking facilities, the venue can accommodate more than a thousand people. Delicious food counters and cake stalls have been arranged for children and adults which will be open from noon on that day.
Joy to the World Program Coordinator Joshi Cyriak announced that everyone is invited to this evening of music, which will be attended by the entire Malayali community in the UK, regardless of caste and religion.
