Forspoken’s free demo is out on PS5, but if you were hoping it would finally answer the question of whether Square Enix’s new open-world RPG would be any good, it still doesn’t seem to be the answer. .

A demo of Forspoken can be found on the PlayStation Store. In it, you will be briefly told regarding the setting, given a very short guide, and then set free to complete a few tasks and run around the open world. It doesn’t really look like this part was taken from the full game – it seems that the demo offers a custom sandbox created from game assets to showcase the combat system and parkour.

The Forspoken subreddit is currently filled with discussions of the game, and it doesn’t take long to see player opinions split.

One Reddit user calls it “the best demo I’ve played”, stating that “From time to time, I think we all feel like we’ve found our game, and that’s how I feel regarding Forspoken.” After playing the demo for 3+ hours, I can’t describe how much I love this game.”

Another Reddit user says “I’m really glad they released a demo” so they decided to hold off buying Forspoken at launch. He added that “everything is just bad,” citing unintuitive controls, blurry visuals, inconsistent performance, and stating that “combat is clunky, slow, and just plain unfun.”
