Bad Bunny, the Latin artist of the moment, said goodbye to his “World Hottest Tour” with a couple of concerts this weekend at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, which he packed following a tour of 14 countries, 43 dates and more than 30 venues in the United States and Latin America.
With a stage that simulated a beach with palm trees, the Puerto Rican singer began his show on Friday at 10:00 p.m. GMT (03:00 GMT) with the song “Moscow Mule,” sung by a venue with a capacity for around 87,000 people.
The euphoria continued with two of his biggest hits: “Me porto bonito” and “Un ratito”.
“Welcome to the hottest tour in the entire world,” he said at the beginning. “The only thing I am going to ask of you is to enjoy yourself, to jump, to dance, to do whatever you want. This is her house”.
From there followed other popular melodies such as “Efecto”, “Tarot”, “La corriente”, “Neverita”, and “Ni bien ni mal”.
Among the most provocative were “Yo perreo sola”, “Titi me pregunta” and “Callaíta”, the most chanted and danced of the night.
“It’s an honor to be in this arena with so many super bastard people who really love me, so thank you, Mexico,” said the singer, who offered a show of regarding three hours.
A HISTORICAL SHOW
The show in the Mexican capital acquired special significance because hours before the Puerto Rican, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, announced that he would pause his career in 2023.
The “World Hottest Tour” is the fourth international tour in the history of the 28-year-old singer, who in 2022 made history by becoming the first artist nominated for both the Latin Grammy and the original Grammy for his album “Un verano sin ti ”, reason for the tour.
The tour is the highest grossing in history for a Latino artist, with more than $232.5 million in earnings through last October, according to Billboard.
In addition to the United States, the artist went through the Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
While “Un verano sin ti” debuted at the top of the US Billboard Top 200 list, making it Bad Bunny’s second album and the second in Spanish in general to top the list.
PARTY INSIDE, CHAOS OUTSIDE
In contrast to the party inside the Azteca, chaos marked the outskirts of the concert, with tens of thousands of fans looking for a resale ticket, throwing alternate parties due to the impossibility of entering or lining up twelve hours before to get good place.
Attendees denounced the sale of cloned tickets, while others protested because the tickets they purchased in advance were not valid.
“The Profeco (Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office) has already requested a report from Ticketmaster regarding the problem with the access tickets to the Bad Bunny concert at the Azteca Stadium,” the consumer attorney, Ricardo Sheffield, wrote on his networks.
In addition, the traffic jams caused journeys of more than two hours to get to and from the venue, located in the south of Mexico City.
