The Korea Football Association (KFA) denied some reports regarding the appointment of a new national team coach, saying, “It is completely different from the truth.”

The KFA said on its official Instagram on the 10th, saying, “We express serious concern regarding the reckless and speculative reports of some media outlets regarding the appointment of a new national coach.”

After coach Paulo Bento led the Korean national soccer team for four years until the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, media reports have revealed that Ahn Jung-hwan, coach Choi Yong-soo, and coach Kim Hak-beom are being mentioned as candidates for the new command team.

Some media outlets brought up an anonymous official and reported that ‘out of the top 16 coaches, foreign coaches are only Korean’ and that the direction was set to ‘domestic powerhouse’ and ‘annual salary of less than 1 billion won’.

The KFA drew the line, saying, “It is doubtful who the anonymous official is, and even if a Korea Football Association official made such a statement, it is only his personal opinion and not the official position of the Korea Football Association.”

“According to the regulations and procedures, the association’s ‘National Team Power Reinforcement Committee’ will be in charge of appointing national coaches. However, we have not even held the first meeting yet, and we are now in the stage of preparing for discussion.” “We will start by establishing the direction our national team will go in the future with all possibilities open,” he said. added.

The KFA said, “As you saw in the process of appointing Bento coach four years ago, there were numerous speculative reports using anonymity, such as ‘persons who know the internal affairs well’ or ‘sources knowledgeable in the football world’, but most of the articles differed from the actual conclusions. “I earnestly ask you not to make hasty predictions,” he said.
