Heavy fighting in Donbass – city of Bakhmut destroyed according to Zelenskyy

According to the government in Kyiv, all of the country’s thermal and hydroelectric power stations were damaged by the Russian air strikes on Ukraine’s power grid. Therefore, power outages are to be expected throughout the winter.

The eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk remains the hardest fought. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed in his daily video address: “The situation on the front lines in the key areas of the Donbass – Bakhmut, Soledar, Maryinka, Kreminna – remains very difficult. For a long time there has been no place in these areas that is not through Shells and fire damaged it. The occupiers even destroyed Bakhmut, another Donbass town that the Russian army burned to ruins.”

Pentagon puts together new aid package

The US government warned of increasing Iranian support for the Russian military and therefore announced new sanctions.

Moscow has once more ordered hundreds of “kamikaze drones” and ballistic missiles from Tehran to secure its military supplies. According to British intelligence, arms aid to Russia will continue to increase in the coming months.

Washington approved an additional $275 million in military aid to Ukraine. The package includes US Himars multiple rocket launchers, anti-drone equipment, medical equipment and generators.

The US Republicans, who will control the House of Representatives in Washington with a slim majority starting in January, have already signaled that they want to step on the brakes on funding aid to Ukraine.
