An American journalist dies during the Argentina-Netherlands match … and his wife is “shocked”

A reporter for CBS Sports has died. CBS Sports American, Friday evening, in Doha, while covering The Argentina-Netherlands match in the Qatar 2022 World Cuphis wife and the NFL announced.

American NBR radio reported that American journalist Grant Wahl, 48, fell to the ground at the press site as the match approached its end. The medical staff gave him first aid, before carrying him on a stretcher.

His wife, Dr. Celine Gunder, wrote on Twitter: “I am completely shocked.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the journalist appears to have suffered a heart attack. The newspaper said Wahl had covered men’s and women’s soccer matches in the United States for more than two decades, and collapsed during the Argentina-Netherlands match.

“Wahl was in the quarter-final match between Argentina and the Netherlands at Lusail Stadium, north of Doha, when he suffered what medics at the scene described as cardiac arrest,” she added.

The NFL confirmed his death in a statement on Twitter.

“The entire American football family is saddened to learn that we have lost Grant Wall,” the federation said.
