The issue of the drug mafia in the state and the increasing incidents of violence due to it was the subject of an urgent motion in the Assembly today. In the last session, the opposition had brought an emergency resolution on the spread of drugs in the state. The discussion ended very positively with the Chief Minister and the government ready to accept the seriousness of the issue. But many things that the Chief Minister said in the discussion on that day were not properly implemented later. In particular, there was no improvement in the police, excise and prosecution systems.
An urgent resolution was brought today citing the need to further strengthen the enforcement systems of the state in the context of the incidents of many students, including an eighth class girl, being caught in the net of drug smuggling yesterday. At the same time, the political support given to the drug mafia, especially the activists and leaders of the leftist student youth organizations, also happened to be pointed out.
What kind of commitment does the ruling party have to the people of Kerala, which runs away from it when the opposition demands a discussion regarding the cancer of addiction that is consuming the entire society?
But the government’s lack of will was exposed by Hon. The minister and the ruling party did not like it. Why did the opposition MLAs not care regarding the interest of the ruling party in the assembly where the problems faced by Kerala and the difficulties faced by the people were discussed? Why do they wear pants and why do they preach English?
It is no wonder that the ruling party is afraid of discussions. No matter how much you try to ignore it, no matter how loud you are, there is a strong opposition that is capable of correcting the ruling party and moving forward. No matter what lengths we have to go to on popular issues, we will go forward from the people’s side with an uncompromising stance.
