Greater Geneva’s health policy must be better coordinated. This is what emerges from the States General of Health. 60 participants met to deal with, among other things, these issues related to cross-border health and above all to make concrete proposals to combat the shortage of healthcare personnel in neighboring France. Among the ideas put forward on the French side: un new contract to oblige carers to practice for at least five years in France before leaving for Switzerland and, if they leave before, reimburse part of their training costs.

The solution to deal with this shortage of nursing staff? establish a bi-national territory that allows for exceptional regimes and to take cross-border measures.
Another point that emerged during these Estates General: the length of professional life, in particular of nursing staff, which continues to decrease. For Delphine Bachmann, this profession must be made more attractive.
To fight once morest this shortage of personnel, the participants in these Estates General propose, in particular, to increase the training of personnel in Switzerland. They also want to define a binational zone to allow regulatory facilities and thus facilitate part-time work on both sides of the border.
