Saint-Phy: the collapse of a bridge leaves 4 injured

While work is being carried out on the former military bridge of Saint-Phy, between Basse-Terre and Saint-Claude, the structure collapsed on Wednesday. The firefighters identify, for the moment, four injured, among the workers.



The old military bridge in the Saint Phy section, which joins Basse-Terre to Saint-Claude, collapsed this Wednesday followingnoon (December 7, 2022).
The work, which is located behind the old fire station, was under construction.

The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) informs us that four workers were injured, according to a provisional report. At this time, we do not know their state of health, but they are well “living“, it is specified.

The firefighters’ operation is underway, with the help of teams from the Urgent medical aid service (SAMU) and the national police.
The chief of staff of the prefect, Tristan Riquelme, as well as the mayors of Saint-Claude and Basse-Terre, Lucie Weck-Mirre and André Atallah, are on site.
