Samuel Poulin was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in 2019. The first-round pick made his pro debut last year playing full season in the American League, and finished his campaign with 16 goals and 37 points in 72 games.
Which, we agree, is excellent for any youngster who is just starting out in the AHL.
The development of the Quebecer is going well since he had the opportunity to play three games with Pittsburgh this year. However, despite his good progress, Samuel decided to temporarily leave the Penguins organization and take a break from hockey in order to solve personal problems.
The team made the announcement itself on its Twitter account, citing by the same token that Poulin will return to Quebec and that he will continue his training off and on the ice.
Forward Sam Poulin will be taking a leave of absence from the @WBSPenguins due to personal reasons.
Poulin will return home to Quebec and continue his workouts on and off the ice.

Obviously, these things are not desirable to anyone. We don’t know the details of the story, but if Poulin says he has to take time for himself, it must be serious.
It reminds a bit of the story of Jonathan Drouin, who, like Samuel, had also decided to leave the Canadiens for a certain period in April 2021 in order to focus on himself.
That being said… On behalf of myself and the entire DLC team, I send him my best wishes and hope he gets better in the near future.
And it is to his credit to have had the courage to tell the team that things were not going well and that it was better for him to come back home to Quebec, surrounded by his loved ones. I tip my hat to him.
In the last week, the Penguins also lost the services of Kristopher Letang, while the Quebecer suffered a second stroke. Has the organization realized that guys’ health (both mental and physical) is more important than hockey?
Certainly, they are two different cases, but they are also two cases that we never want to see in the NHL and in life in general. Hoping that the two Quebecers will be back in the game without there being any notable consequences.

Little news regarding Cayden Primeau who consults a doctor to determine if he did not suffer a concussion, or other, when he suffered a laceration in the head. He will not play this weekend for the #Rocket. @RDSca
