Books-Sayed Metwally:
With the approach of winter, many people suffer from colds, and some of them resort to going to pharmacies in order to seek treatment without a prescription, although this may cause many risks.
In contrast to the “cold injection” that spread earlier, a new treatment appeared in pharmacies recently, and the pioneers of social networking sites shared pictures of it, known as “Averozolid”, sold as a treatment for the common cold.
Masrawy communicated with the pharmacist, Abdo Talaat, to reveal the dangers of this drug if it was taken with the treatment of the common cold.
The doctor said: “Averozolid treatment is taken in certain cases to treat a bacteria called “MRSA”.
And the doctor warned once morest taking this drug without a prescription, saying: “Taking it to treat the common cold causes the body to resist this type of bacteria, and therefore when infected with this bacteria, the immunity will not be able to fight the disease, which means weak immunity.”
For his part, Dr. Nader Al-Sayed, a pediatrician and neonatologist, confirmed on his official Facebook page that this drug is extremely dangerous to health if used as a treatment for the common cold.
He added: “Averozolid is a drug used as an antibiotic to treat some types of serious bacterial infections and is one of the most powerful antibiotics.”
He continued: “This drug is used only in cases of bacterial infections, meaning that it will not work with viral infections such as: colds and influenza.”
He pointed out: “Linezolid is used to treat different types of bacterial infections, such as: pneumonia and infections that are resistant to other antibiotics.”
And the doctor warned: “Some pharmacies have been cutting the tape and selling pill therapy with cold medicines, and this is dangerous, when you take a higher class antibiotic with a slight fatigue, following a while when you get tired and get pneumonia and take this treatment, it will not bring you any result, because here it happened body resistance.” for antibiotics.”
And the doctor advised: “Do not take the drug without a prescription.”
