The current Early winter in Europe, or rather in Germany, but might only be a taste of what’s to come. Because within a week more cold air is supposed to make its way to Germany. The DWD expects more snow in this context. Overall, the signs would point to the most wintry December in Germany since 2010.

The European weather model has even calculated a snowstorm for Friday, December 9th. According to this, a low from the north-west would pull over Germany and bring with it massive cold air and a lot of snow. However, this is only a snapshot, reports daswetter.com. At least the large potential on the weather map would point to this scenario.

As for the snowstorms and the minus 20 degree thesis from the weather model of the ECMWF (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) that daswetter.com has published, says qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung, managing director of the weather service Q.met, to the weather portal wetter.net: “The ECMWF has calculated a real snowstorm in parts of Germany for Friday next week: 20 to 40 centimeters of fresh snow and lots of wind and storms.”

Jung also puts the -20 degrees from the weather model and the snowstorms in the same order: “This calculation seems extremely bold and bold. It keeps disappearing and then popping up once more. At least that shows that the weather models currently see a lot of winter potential,” he explains.
