“Discard for better care”. This is the motto of the independent review Prescribe, which updates every year since 2010, the list of drugs it considers ineffective or dangerous, and which it therefore recommends avoiding. A list for patients, but also caregivers, to help them “choose quality care”and to limit possible health risks.
To do this, the monthly review, whose articles are mostly signed by health professionals, evaluates the interest of drugs according to a “rigorous methodology”. She studies the products according to their benefits (effectiveness, ease of use, etc.) and their risks (adverse effects, risks of interactions, etc.). In its annual update for 2023, available online, Prescribe thus lists 107 drugs, 88 of which are marketed in France. We take stock of the main lessons of this list.
