Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Originally released on the PSP, it’s getting its widely acclaimed remaster in a week. At least that’s what the international ratings for the game show.
The current meta score for the PS5 version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a solid 77. Apparently the now 15 year old JRPG still has it going.
This is what the testers say regarding Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is lauded for what it is: a remaster. But a convincingly good one. Multiple tests report that every aspect of the game has been improved, including the graphics, controls, and combat system, while remaining true to the original at its core.
At the same time, however, this is also subject to criticism. As the Shacknews site explains:
“I had mixed feelings when the credits rolled for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. Playing FF7 Remake felt like I was playing something significantly bigger than the source material. I didn’t have that same feeling with Crisis Core.” But also adds that “the PSP original was pretty good and considering the visual improvements and quality of life changes I was happy with Reunion overall.”

The GamePro writes:
“For fans of the original (!) Final Fantasy 7 and anyone who recently played Crisis Core on the PSP, the remaster is definitely recommended.”
Score: 84/100
However, Screen Rant also concedes:
“The original Crisis Core also received a lot of valid criticism, and Reunion doesn’t do much to address those points […] Zack’s tragic story deserves a better retelling on modern hardware, and Crisis Core Reunion ultimately feels like a missed opportunity.”

What is Crisis Core regarding?
In Crisis Core you play Zack Fair, a soldier of Shinra’s special forces. His goal is to reach the highest rank in the unit. After first-class soldier Genesis goes missing on a mission in Wutai, a team consisting of Zack, Angeal, and Sephiroth is dispatched. As you progress, you uncover the truth regarding Genesis’ disappearance, learn more regarding your team and the Shinra Corporation, and get answers to questions that remained unanswered in Final Fantasy 7.
