A strange medical case occurred in Nuevo León, in Mexico, following a baby was born with a tail 5.7 centimeters long.
The doctors noticed the soft limb that protruded at the end of the coccyx of the little girl following her birth, so they proceeded to study her particular condition.
That was how the specialists determined that the tail had no boneslacked spontaneous movements and had nerve endings, as revealed by the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports.
After observing the evolution of the little girl for two months, the pediatrics and general surgery team discovered that the tail had increased in size, so it was decided remove it by surgery which was successful.
Specialists are still investigating the causes that might have caused the baby’s mutation, since the mother was not exposed to radioactive environments, she had a pregnancy without complications, and both she and the baby’s father were healthy.
