Eight games were on the night’s program in the NBA, and Kawhi Leonard signed his return by giving the Clippers victory on the Charlotte floor. Dallas and Boston meanwhile impressed by beating Toronto and Phoenix.
Absent since November 21 due to an ankle injury, Kawhi Leonard made his comeback on Monday, and that changed everything for the Clippers! The double NBA champion gave victory to his franchise, traveling to Charlotte, on a step-back a second and a half from the end (117-119). He finished in total with 16 points (7/15 on shots including 0/3 to 3pts) and 6 rebounds in 28 minutes at the end of a game that the Clippers have most often dominated, but where Charlotte believed to succeed the hold-up (117-115 at 1’34 from the final buzzer). Paul George, also back, added 19 points, and Nicolas Batum and Reggie Jackson 13, in a Clippers team that finally looked like the one they said was a title contender at the start of the season. The Clippers are sixth in the Western Conference, before continuing their Florida road trip to Orlando.
Doncic bends the Suns
Still in the West, one of the clashes of the night opposed Dallas to Phoenix, and the Mavericks impressed, beating the leader 130-111. As in Game 7 of the last Conference semi-final, the Texans rolled out their basketball, counting up to 27 points ahead, in the wake of a Luka Doncic with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The Suns scored just 15 points in the first quarter (a first this season) and never got over it, even if Deandre Ayton made his match (20pts, 8rbds). Devin Booker, on the other hand, got through, with only 11 points, 4 out of 13 on shots (1/2 to 3pts).
Record points for Frenchman Dieng
In the East, the shock of the night opposed Toronto to Boston, and the leader did not tremble to win in Canada: 110-116. Led by ten points in the middle of the second quarter, the C’s reversed the situation, thanks in particular to a Jayson Tatum with 31 points and 12 rebounds and a Jaylen Brown with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Enough to confidently approach the shock of the leaders on the Phoenix park on Wednesday! Also noteworthy among the results of this Monday is the victory of Milwaukee in Orlando with 34 points and 13 rebounds from Giannis AntetokounmpoOklahoma City’s victory in Atlanta (114-121) with a career-high (15) from young Frenchman Ousmane Dieng (19), Houston’s victory following overtime once morest Philadelphia (132-123) despite the 39 points from Joel Embiid, and Golden State’s home loss to Indiana (104-112) with Stephen Curry reduced to 12 points.
