According to a media report, a rocket fell in the Republic of Moldova near the border with Ukraine. The police found the remains of the projectile in the north of the country, as the state news portal Prima Sursa quoted the police as saying.
The authorities of the ex-Soviet republic initially did not comment on the incident, which was reported amid a new wave of Russian missile attacks on Ukraine.
Ukraine wants more missile defense systems
In response, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is once more demanding more missile defense systems from Western allies. “This proves once once more that Russian missile terror poses a major threat not only to Ukraine’s security, but also to the security of neighboring countries,” a spokesman said. In late October, debris from a Russian missile shot down by Ukrainian air defenses fell in a village in northern Moldova.
Meanwhile, Ukraine shot down most of the Russian missiles aimed at hitting the country, according to its air force high command. More than 60 of the more than 70 projectiles were intercepted. The shelling was aimed at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
