Tarbes: Buy your soup to help with breast cancer screening

the essential
For the fourth year in a row, Saturday December 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the northern entrance to the Brauhauban area, the Lion’s Club Tarbes Las Néous is organizing its traditional chefs’ soup for the benefit of the Jeune & Rose association.

Exotic or pumpkin velouté, autumnal soups, miso or fish, garbure, etc: there will be something for everyone (but perhaps everyone) Saturday December 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in front of the entrance north of the Brauhauban hall, where the soup chefs will set their pots for the fourth consecutive year. 24 chefs from Tarbes and the agglomeration are taking part in this solidarity operation, “original and friendly” in the words of the mayor of Tarbes Gérard Trémège, who strongly supports this initiative.

A target of 500 liters

“Each chef makes between 20 and 30 liters of soup. The aim is to be able to sell 500 litres, at €6 per litre, with an increase of €1 per liter compared to last year, to take account of the soaring cost of raw materials” explains the president of the Lion’s club Tarbes Las Néous, Marie-Antoinette Cassagne-Rodriguez. This year, all proceeds from the operation will be donated to the Jeune & Rose association, which works to promote breast cancer screening among young women. Founded in Bordeaux by two former patients who met during chemotherapy, the association now spreads throughout France, particularly at the foot of the Pyrenees where Virgnie, Emilie and Sophie Laurent play the role of ambassadors. “We have three main missions, they explain:” Les Tétonnantes “which consists of supporting and accompanying young women affected by cancer through meetings and physical and digital exchanges between old and new patients, “Alerte rose” which has for aim of raising awareness among health professionals and “Télététon” which aims to raise awareness among the general public (high school students, young people, companies) in particular of breast self-examination, through Pouet Pouet workshops”. With the dance gala and the golf competition which attracted the participation of 120 players, a major novelty for this year 2022, the chefs’ soup is one of the three main events organized by the Lion’s club Tarbes Las Néous, as specified its president who salutes, once once more, “the mobilization of the chefs in this rather busy period which precedes the end of year celebrations”.
