Radeon RX 7900: the prospect of a “good” price recedes

You obviously know that the Radeons AMD’s RX 7900 is expected to arrive this December 13. The “reference” RX 7900 XT has been announced with an official price of $899, while the XTX will cost $999. Two prices that contrast with those of the RTX 4090 and 4080 launched earlier this year. However, while AMD’s pricing announcements have sparked a very positive reception from the hardware community, the reality might unfortunately be profoundly different. Two big clouds are disturbing the positive waves that floated up to there on this exit. First of all, the availability of so-called reference cards (which will therefore have to be exchanged at $899 and $999 respectively) will be visibly very limited.

RX 7900: real availability and prices really practiced

Some rumors even indicate that AMD would stop its own versions to make way for the AIB reference models. Finally, because the prices of partner models are starting to leak in China in particular, and the bill is salty. The first leaks indicate that the cards might be traded at a price 20 to 30% higher than the launch price communicated by AMD. Other information suggests an RX 7900 XT at 8,688 yuan, while the 7900 XTX might end up between 9,788 and 11,399 yuan. Either close to 60% more than its official price. Certainly, this information is only rumors among others but for the moment several sources indicate a very reduced availability at least for the first 2-3 weeks. The custom versions might only really arrive at the very beginning of 2023 with obviously an even higher price.

In short, the match will not be limited to performances between AMD et Nvidia but also to the actual availability and to the public prices that the distributors all over the world will offer.
