Koundé forgets to remove his chains against Poland and annoys Deschamps: ‘He was lucky he wasn’t in front of me…’

A scene made a lot of talk regarding it. During the meeting between France and Poland (3-1)in the round of 16 of the World Cup, the referee interrupted the game for a few seconds for an unlikely reason.

42nd minute of the game. Whereas Jules Kounde was regarding to kick in, the assistant referee ordered him to remove the two chains he was wearing around his neck and which he had obviously forgotten to remove before the start of the match. With help from a member of the staff of the France team, the right side complied and was then able to make the key.

A surprising omission which greatly annoyed the French coach Didier Deschampsquestioned at the end of the meeting: “It’s not allowed. Players are not allowed to wear bracelets, necklaces or watches during a game. Jules was lucky he wasn’t in front of me, otherwise… I thought he took them off but apparently he didn’t. It’s our fault“. A message that has the merit of being clear!
