(Seoul = NSP Communications) Reporter Lee Bok-hyeon = Striking Distance Studios (SDS), an independent studio of Krafton (CEO Kim Chang-han), released the survival horror game ‘The Callisto Protocol’ globally on the 2nd.
Callisto Protocol is a game regarding survival in the year 2320 due to an unknown plague spreading on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. It can be played on consoles such as PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
SDS CEO Glen Schofield, who developed the Callisto Protocol, said, “Great horror is handcrafted and has to come from a gut feeling.” The excellent acting skills of the actors will be added to provide users with a powerful and thrilling experience.”
Unlike other horror games, Callisto Protocol properly mixes melee and long-range combat in order to bring out the feeling of ‘desperate struggle for survival’. A combat system was implemented in which players had to strategically fight monsters using various weapons such as firearms, stun clubs, and grips (weapons using gravity).
Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han said, “Callisto Protocol will serve as a priming water for Krafton to solidify its position as a global game company that has continued to challenge the limits of genres and platforms.” It will give you a sense of fear that you have never experienced before.”

Meanwhile, SDS conducted an extensive global marketing campaign ahead of the global launch of Callisto Protocol.
In particular, a promotional video containing Callisto Protocol’s in-game and play video was released on the Billboard of Times Square on Broadway in New York. This video, made in 3D, drew the attention of those who well directed the overwhelming atmosphere and immersion of Callisto Protocol.
In addition, Callisto Protocol proved that it is an anticipated work in 2022, such as showing videos as interim advertisements on the electronic display board of Piccadilly Circus, a famous landmark in London, and the National Football League, the most popular sport in the United States.
