While the Yankees reportedly made slugger Aaron Judge an eight-year, $300 million offer to keep him, Ken Rosenthal writes in an article for The Athletic that Judge is likely to receive a nine-year deal, wherever he signs.
“A nine-year deal for Judge, who turns 31 on April 26, would keep him under contract until age 39,” Rosenthal writes. “The Yankees may have to decide if they are comfortable offering such a long contract to retain their star outfielder. Judge, for his part, might have to decide if he wants to leave the Yankees for one more guaranteed year.”
If New York isn’t willing to offer Judge nine years, a team like the Giants, who are supposedly the Yankees’ main competition for the slugger’s services, might give him a longer deal to sign him, as the Rangers did to give Jacob deGrom five yearsmore than the three years he was reportedly offered by the Mets
