NetherRealm will not announce Mortal Kombat 12 at The Game Awards

It was recently revealed that Mortal Kombat 12 might be announced very soonand everything pointed to NetherRealm would participate in The Game Awards to give news regarding their upcoming projects. However, it seems that fans are going to have to wait longer than anticipated to see the progress of the next installments of said study.

Although we already have a nod to Mortal Kombat 12 First Character Leaked, is not enough to satisfy the excitement of the fans who hold the franchise so dear. Considering that Mortal Kombat 11 was released more than 4 years ago, the official announcement of the sequel is probably getting closer, although sadly it will not be at The Game Awards 2022, and it has been confirmed by the creator of the series, Ed Boon.

Mortal Kombat 12 will not be at The Game Awards 2022

Ed Bonn Confirms Mortal Kombat 12 Will Not Be Announced At The Game Awards

Ed Boon has posted on his twitter discouraging news for fans of Mortal Kombat, and that is that it has confirmed that the team of NetherRealm is not yet ready to be an announcement of the next installment. In turn, he has attached an image from the past The Game Awards event where Mortal Kombat 11 was first announced by surprise.

Four years ago at the Game Awards, we managed to make a surprise announcement of MK11which turned out great. Perhaps too good, since many assumed we would repeat that trick for our next game. Thanks for the anticipation, but we’re not quite ready to announce the next NRS game yet.

In the words of the creator of the franchise, the announcement of Mortal Kombat 11 was much more incredible than they thought, but they do not intend to repeat the same procedure with their next video game. Apparently, the studio wants to keep the surprise factor in its announcements so as not to fall into monotony and overwhelm its followers, so The Game Awards 2022 is not the right place to reveal the preview of what might be Mortal Kombat 12.

Therefore, it is speculated that NetherRealm will make an official announcement of Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3 at one of the events next year, such as the E3 2023 that has already confirmed its dates. Let’s remember that Mortal Kombat X was officially presented at E3 in 2014, so it would be perfect to give this event the opportunity to announce Mortal Kombat 12 once more.
