Sandra Studer plays a nun in the musical “Sister Act”. In the “Lässer” talk, the TV presenter explains that she reached her limits in life – and why she founded a nuns’ club at the age of 17.
Holy shit: Sandra Studer is currently a strict Mother Superior Mundart musical «Sister Äct» on stage in Zurich.
A great musical performance also marked the beginning of Sandra Studer’s meteoric career. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 she reached fifth place as Sandra Simó with “Canzone per te”. Only a short time later she discovered Swiss television and there she became a sought-following TV presenter with programs such as “Takito”, “Traumziel” and “Country Roads”.
Professional success and everyday family life with four children have been very demanding for her, she often had to grit her teeth, the mother of four tells Claudia Lässer.
There were hard times, for example when her daughter woke her up ten times a night for around a year and a half – and she reached her limit: “At some point I just cried, I mightn’t do it anymore,” says Studer (53).
Sandra Studer and the nuns’ club
In the meantime, more calm has returned to Sandra Studer at home, the children are now grown. She leads a kind of shared life with her kids. And the new family life gives her enough time to play in the musical “Sister Act”. A direct hit, since she has always been fascinated by the world of monasteries.
Studer even founded a nuns’ club: “I founded a nuns’ club when I was 17 or 18, when I was the abbess. It was such a gag and game with my girlfriends that I had at the time.”
The club, which is not meant to be taken seriously, was founded to defy initial disappointments in love.
