The Swiss national team achieved an impressive victory over its Serbian counterpart, 3-2, today, Friday, in the third and final round of the group stage in the World Cup, “Qatar 2022”.
The meeting witnessed a charged atmosphere between Serbia and Switzerland, given the importance of the match that determines the identity of the last qualifier for the round of 16, accompanied by the Brazilian national team from Group G.
Switzerland opened the scoring in the 20th minute by Xherdan Shaqiri, and Serbia managed to equalize with Aleksandar Mitrovic’s header in the 26th minute.
The Serbian national team advanced in the result, with the goal of Dusan Vlahovic (D35), and Switzerland refused to come out of the first session late in the result, realizing the equalizer by Brill Embolo (D44).

In the second half, the intensity of the individual confrontations between the players increased, and the match was stopped on more than one occasion due to friction and violent interventions.
In the 48th minute, Remo Frelier scored Switzerland’s third goal. Despite the Serbian national team’s attempts to equalise, the coherence of the Swiss defense, led by Manuel Akanji, prevented the result from changing until the end of the match.
With this victory, the Swiss national team reached the sixth point to finish in second place, and qualifies with Brazil for the next round, while Serbia was excluded from the tournament following finishing in last place with one point.
