It was via the orange Alert us button that Pauline (assumed name) contacted us following an assault she suffered in the Bois de la Cambre on Wednesday, November 30. During a walk with her dog, an individual passing near her began to spit on the animal before attacking the young girl and fleeing.
It must have been an ordinary followingnoon for this young girl. It is Wednesday, November 30, Pauline, 18, will experience an event that will deeply traumatize her. A man will suddenly attack the animal as well as the young girl.
He took off his balaclava and spat on my dog
When she passes by a man, visibly accompanied by his mother, he will behave violently. “He was hooded. He took off his balaclava and spat on my dog“, she explains. While the man continues to walk as if nothing had happened, Pauline will challenge him by asking him why he made such a gesture.
Unanswered, she threatens the man to call the police. Hearing this, the individual will turn around and attack Pauline. “He kicked me, threw my phone in the pond and threatened me“.
A man who witnessed the scene began to pursue the attacker, before he said: “If you keep following me, I’ll stab you“, explains Pauline.
I won’t go back alone
After the man fled, a woman offers to accompany Pauline home. The young girl explains to him that it will be fine and that she can go home alone. “I didn’t want her to have a problem coming home“, explains Pauline, as night began to fall.
A traumatic event for the young girl, she is not sure she will be able to go back for a walk in the Bois de la Cambre anytime soon, at least not alone. “I won’t go back alone“, she testifies. Fortunately, she comes out of it without injuries. Her dog has a slight bump near the mouth, but no more serious injury.
The young woman immediately filed a complaint with the Uccle police, hoping that her attacker might be arrested.
A park that can be dangerous
An emblematic place in Brussels, the Bois de la Cambre welcomes thousands of visitors every day. Its walks, nightclubs and restaurants make it a very popular place. Unfortunately for this wood, cases of attacks have regularly been declared there for several years.
