In 2021, China remains the first destination for Cameroon’s exports, and its market share has increased by four percentage points compared to the year 2020 to reach 25.8%, indicated the National Institute of Statistics. (INS) of Cameroon in a report made public this Friday.
China is followed by the Netherlands (12.4%), India (9.6%), Italy (7.1%), Spain (6.1%) and Chad (3. 8%) neighbor, said the INS.
The products exported by Cameroon to China consist mainly of crude petroleum oils (66%), liquefied natural gas (19%), raw wood (10%) and sawn wood (3%), representing 98 % of Cameroonian exports to China in 2021, according to the report.
China also remains at the forefront of Cameroon’s suppliers, representing 17% of market share, the same level as in 2020. It is followed by France, India and Russia, indicates the same source.
The report specifies that Cameroon mainly imported from China machinery and mechanical devices (11.4%), cast iron, iron and steel (11%), machinery and recording or reproduction devices ( 10.4%), plastics (6.3%), rice (6.3%), insecticides (5.7%), tiles and paving slabs (4.8%), as well as new rubber tires (3.9%).
