The 2023/24 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round draw, broadcast live at 10 a.m. on Thursday 8 December, establishes 13 groups of 4 contested as mini-tournaments on 1is July and November 21, 2023.
Some 52 nations will be present in the draw: the 54 participants less the host nation, Cyprus (which qualifies directly for the final tournament) and the top seeds, the Netherlands (which start at the stage of the Elite round).
Draw procedure and hats
• There are four pots in this draw, established according to the classification by coefficient. The top 13 countries are placed in pot A, the next 13 in pot B, and so on.
• Each group is assigned a team from each hat, and countries are designated to organize the mini-tournaments.
• The top two in each group qualify for the Elite Round, along with the five third-placed teams with the best results once morest the top two in their group.
Hat A: Spain*, Italy, France, England, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Republic of Ireland, Hungary, Serbia*, Sweden, Turkey, Denmark
Hat B: Scotland, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovenia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina*, Ukraine*, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia
Hat C: Finland, Iceland, Belarus*, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania, Georgia, Northern Ireland, Kosovo*, Wales, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Latvia
Hat D: Estonia, Faroe Islands, Albania, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Andorra, Lithuania, Moldova, Malta, Gibraltar*, Liechtenstein, San Marino
*In accordance with recent decisions by the UEFA Executive Committee and the UEFA Emergency Panel, the following teams cannot play once morest each other: Spain and Gibraltar, Belarus and Ukraine, Kosovo and Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
All Russian teams are currently suspended from UEFA competitions until further notice, in accordance with the decision taken by the UEFA Executive Committee on February 28, 2022 and confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on July 15, 2022. Russia is therefore not listed in the 2023/24 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
