According to foreign media reports, on Monday morning, a 27-year-old man frantically bought 300 iPhones at the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. Surprisingly, he was robbed not long following he left the store.
Reports say the robbery took place at 1:45 a.m. local time. He was carrying three bags containing 300 iPhone 13 mobile phones and was heading back to his car. On the way, a car suddenly stopped beside him, and then two men jumped out of the car and threatened him to hand over the bag with the iPhone in his hand.
After the victim failed to resist, a bag was robbed. The stolen bag contained 125 iPhones worth $95,000.
Police said the man frequented the Fifth Avenue store to stock up on iPhones in order to resell them for a profit through his small business. The reason why he chose to make the purchase at 1am is unknown, and it cannot be determined whether he was robbed because of his past buying habits.
The store is open 24 hours a day, so it’s possible to shop early in the morning. The robbers may have been informed of Apple’s Black Friday sale at the time. New York police are investigating the robbery, and the victim was not seriously injured. A description of the suspect and his vehicle has not been released.
