Not even a month did the adventure last Hernan Bolillo Gómez as coach of Atletico Bucaramanga following stepping aside this Wednesday.

On November 16, the former Honduras coach was chosen as the new coach of Los Canarios following the failure with the Bicolor.

Atlético Bucaramanga had announced the signing of Gómez, who would take over along with his technical assistant Édgar ‘el Panzer’ Carvajal and Juan Mauricio Roldán as physical trainer.

CONTROVERSY

According to Colombian media reports, Bolillo Gómez backed down to lead Atlético Bucaramanga following the board made the decision to drop 10 players. Among them some important names such as Juan Camilo Chaverra and Dayro Moreno.

This decision did not sit well with Gómez and his coaching staff, since one of his conditions was to have a competitive team to fight for the cup.

Another possible cause of Bolillo’s departure is that he prioritized the safety of his coaching staff, since members of Atlético Bucaramanga pointed him out as the alleged culprit for the departure of the soccer players.

Not having a competitive payroll, the coffee selector decided not to continue with a project for which he had not even signed a contract.

“The decision made by the Antioquia coach and his coaching staff is a consequence of the discomfort caused by a sector of the bar in recent days. Likewise, the nonconformist comments expressed by some fans and the insults once morest the new coaching staff were decisive in abandoning the sports project,” says the Colombian team’s statement.

HONDURAS SELECTION

After the failure of the Honduran team in the octagonal final, Hernán Bolillo Gómez decided to step aside following eight games led in which he might not win a game. The Colombian left Bicolor in April 2022.
