We have all heard it said that it is good to to drink a glass of water with lemon with an empty stomach. But is it true, and what does the research say? Lemon water is a popular “recipe”, if you can call it that, which is supposed to help improve digestion, detoxify the body or aid in weight loss. Lemons: a good source of nutrition

Lemons are an abundant source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant. They are also rich in flavonoids, compounds that help improve the health. And fight disease.

Other than that, lemons don’t add much else like nutrients. They contain little protein, fat, carbohydrates or sugar. And contain only small amounts of other vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, folic acid and some B vitamins.

  • It is a diuretic: Water is an effective diuretic, as are all fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products, including lemons.
