The Academy that awards the Academy Awards has announced a new set of rules for organizing next year’s Academy Awards.
And according to the American “Variety” website, the academy prioritizes imposing safety on the ceremony, to avoid a recurrence of the recent slap incident.
It is noteworthy that Will Smith slapped comedian host Chris Rock because of a joke the latter said regarding his wife.
The Academy confirmed that the next ceremony will include a high-level insurance that is different from the previous ceremony, because it does not wish to repeat any incidents that might distract people from the most important cinematic event annually.
Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said that all categories will be included in live television, meaning that the 8 categories that were cut from television broadcasts last year will be shown on air in 2023.
These categories include: Best Documentary Short, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Live Action Film, among others.
The second change comes following the filmmakers expressed their anger at not broadcasting all the awards ceremony live, because these categories are no less important than the rest of the awards ceremony.
And following last year’s backlash over the topic, the Academy has now returned the eight categories to televised broadcasts, which means everyone will get a chance to stand on stage and accept one of the art world’s highest awards in front of everyone.
