In Dragonflight, you have the opportunity to participate in races dedicated to Dragonflight. These are predefined routes that you must complete within a predefined period of time. These races allow you to unlock several achievements and rewards that I invite you to discover below.
1. How do I unlock Dragon Ride races?
Races are unlocked upon acquiring your first mount in Awakening Shores. The game also offers you very quickly your first quest related to a race. Therefollowing, you will be taken to the Plains of Ohn’arha, then the Azure Travée and finally Thaldraszus.
There are 4 quests for basic races and 4 advanced quests. You must validate the 4 basic races to unlock the advanced races.
2. Operation of the races
A race consists of connecting the starting line to the finishing line as quickly as possible. It’s very simple in theory, but the paths are not in a straight line and many obstacles can come in the way.
You must pass through crossing points represented by yellow or blue circles. These luminous circles provide direction and time indications for the rest of the race. If you are too slow, the race is lost and you have to start it once more.
The journey is also punctuated by the presence of various elements:
- gust of wind : Allows you to increase your speed.
- green orb : Regenerate 1 Stamina.
- The world is violet : Stuns your character for 2 seconds. Absolutely avoid, but you can pass through the orb without consequence by using your drake’s Gusts of Ohn’ahra ability.
- flaming orb : Slows your speed for 2 seconds. Avoid too, but once more you can use Gusts of Ohn’arha to avoid the debuff.
Know that races are never long, most are completed in 40 to 60 seconds.
3. Level of difficulty of the races
Of course, the basic races are simpler, with more buffs and fewer obstacles. For advanced races, it’s the opposite and you have to avoid several obstacles each time.
Every race, whether basic or advanced, comes in three difficulty levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
- The Bronze level simply requires going to the end of the race without a time limit.
- Silver and Gold levels have a time limit.
- The Gold level is the most difficult to reach, with a lower timer. So you have to be faster.
It is highly recommended that you acquire all Dracogplyhes and unlock all Dragonflight talents before jumping into races.
You indeed need Vigor but also certain specific capacities to validate the most difficult races. Save yourself the frustration and get all the dragonglyphs first 😉
4. Achievements and Rewards
There are many achievements for races. Each successful race rewards you with an achievement, whether in Bronze, Silver or Gold, for basic and advanced races. The real rewards come when you complete all races in an area at their hardest level, Gold. Each time, you’ll receive a customization for your drake.
