On the program of “the MJC makes its cinema”, Saturday November 19, a special session took place at the cinema A l’ Affiche with the projection of two clips and a medium-length film made in Chaumont.

The first clip, a rap, is called “Dounia – Life on Earth”. Stephan Maurer’s camera filmed the two singer-songwriters, Benjamin Ngallé and Ousman Cham, the first Central African, the second Gambian, pro baccalaureate students, in such a way that, during the song, we see them separated or together, in the studio or in the undergrowth, or in the open on an agrarian path. The second clip, also by Stéphan Maurer, features students from the Charles-de-Gaulle high school, performing “Café des lilas”, a work by Lilian Barbe, originally only sound. It shows the exchange of messages between a young waiter and a client of the same age, who left having forgotten her wallet, the day before the ordered closure due to Covid.

The third film, 30 minutes long, shot by members of the MJC’s digital audio video Fab Lab workshop, was regarding the concert given at the Bouchardon auditorium during the music festival last June. This concert brought together for the first time students and teachers from the Music Conservatory and the MJC. In the film, sequences of the concert and the comments of the participants are interposed. At the end of the screening, Fabrice Montignon, director of the MJC, called on stage all the protagonists of the three films, starting with the new director of the Conservatoire, Olivier Cordelle, welcoming in passing the partnership between the two structures. Each participant spoke regarding this experience, described by all as enriching. Benjamin and Ousman, the rappers, thanked everyone who has helped them since their arrival. Many families came to attend these screenings.
