The third constituency of Beishi (Northern Songshan, Zhongshan District) left by KMT Taipei Mayor-elect Jiang Wanan is vacant. Registration began yesterday (28th) and a by-election will be held on January 8th next year. In this regard, the KMT was named candidates for the legislative by-election, including non-district legislator Li Guimin, Beishi councilors Wang Hao, Wang Hongwei, and former legislator Luo Shulei. In this regard, Wang Hongwei said earlier today (29th) through Facebook, “I will not stand for the legislative by-election.”
Wang Hongwei said that the media has been asking her recently whether she will stand for the by-election of the Legislative Council. Since the registration day ends on this Friday (12/2), in order to allow the party department to recruit suitable candidates in time, she made a 4-point statement:
First, on Sunday night (11/27), she told KMT Secretary-General Huang Jianting that she would not run for election. On the morning of this (29th), she told Huang Lu Jinru, the chairman of the municipal party department, that she would not run for election.
Second, I would like to thank some comrades in the party and many good friends for their expectations of her. Wang emphasized, “I am not avoiding the war, but because of the announcement registration of the Central Election Committee and the election time, if I run for the election, I will go to register for the by-election within a week following the election. Many friends in the media have reminded her that she will immediately bear the burden. The name “Falling Run”.
Third, the election day for the legislator by-election is January 8 next year, and she will take office on December 25 this year. If she runs for the election, she will be seen by the outside world as having no determination to win, and it will not be conducive to winning the election!
Fourth, she has made it clear to the party department that no matter which comrade is recruited to run for the election, she will fully support and be responsible for the auxiliary election work in Beisongshan District.
