Modder Kilian and Russian programmer Ivan Novozhilov published YouTube channel 2Unreal4Underground has a new gameplay video of its remake of the racing arcade game Need for Speed Underground 2 from Electronic Arts.
Recall that the last time we heard regarding the joint project of Kilian and Ivan was in haswhen the duo released an 11-minute video showcasing the reimagining of NFS Underground 2. At the time, the game was running on Unreal Engine 4.
According to Kilian, the main achievement of the team since then has been the implementation of suspension on the guide posts with adjustable tilt angle (castor) and toe/camber angles. The remake is also currently being translated into Unreal Engine 5.
Thanks to the transition to a new engine, modders managed to increase performance, the stability of the physical model and the predictability of the simulation: cars stopped getting stuck in geometry and fell out of the world.
As for the video itself, it is 8 minutes long and shows the tuning system (hull, specs, cosmetics), several cars from the garage and a variety of menus, including a selection of songs.
Modders also showed almost three minutes of driving around the city in the rain. The remake has already implemented all the cars, systems of events and progress in the campaign and SMS notifications. In addition, cars have become more tenacious, but can still skid.
There is no release date for the unofficial remake of Need for Speed Underground 2, but the audience has already been outlined. User weed75black35 in the comments even confessed: “Waiting for more than [грядущую Need for Speed] Unbound».
