Construction worker who kicked 4-year-old stepson in the back of the head pleads guilty to assaulting children and gets 12 weeks in prison

A construction worker who kicked his 4-year-old stepson in the back of the head was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for assault in a Kowloon City court.

A 25-year-old construction worker kicked his 4-year-old stepson on the back of the head twice in Wong Tai Sin’s residence, causing him to fall to the ground in July this year, because his 4-year-old stepson refused to eat. The construction worker involved in the case had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting a child or juvenile in his custody, and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison in the Kowloon City Court yesterday (28th).

The 25-year-old defendant, CWK, reported to be a construction worker. He was accused of taking custody and custody of a 4-year-old boy X on July 20, 2022 at a unit in Tsz Ching Village, Tsz Wan Shan Road, Wong Tai Sin. or a person with a duty of care, intentionally assaulted Boy X in a manner likely to cause Boy X to suffer needlessly.

The facts of the case stated that the defendant married the biological mother of the 4-year-old boy X in 2019. At around 6:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, X was sitting on a chair in the living room. The defendant kicked the back of X’s head, causing X to hit the table in front of him. X immediately covered his face with his hands and cried. The defendant kicked X once more, causing X to Falling to the ground, the defendant kicked the chair once more, and the chair hit X on the head. There was a closed-circuit television in the house where the crime took place. After learning regarding it, the defendant’s wife emailed the footage to the staff of Po Leung Kuk. Later, the staff called the police. The police found no superficial injuries on X’s body. The defendant, under admonition, said he kicked X because he did not want to eat.
