After the disruptive action by climate activists in the German capital’s BER airport, all five arrested men and one woman are free once more.
The spokesman for the police headquarters, Mario Heinemann, reported today that the last of the men was released from custody on Saturday following the 48-hour period had expired. The other activists involved had previously been released.
Detection in several directions
According to Heinemann, the Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is investigating the six climate activists for dangerous interference in air traffic, disruption of public services, trespassing and property damage.
Members of the “Last Generation” protest group briefly paralyzed operations in BER on Thursday followingnoon. They had managed to cut through a security fence and entered the airport grounds.
In the area of the runway, four participants in the action would have stuck, the police said. Flight operations have meanwhile been stopped. According to the airport, five starts had to be cancelled. 15 planned landings were diverted to Leipzig and Dresden.
