Under its yield curve control policy, the Bank of Japan has continued to purchase low-yield, high-priced government bonds in order to keep long-term interest rates at regarding 0%. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) had valuation gains of 11.1151 trillion yen at the end of September, down from 14.6854 trillion yen at the end of March. Retained earnings, which is the final profit, increased to 1,592.4 billion yen from 1,052.9 billion yen in the same period of the previous year due to the depreciation of the yen.
