Light earthquake in the Gard: a magnitude 2.4 earthquake recorded around Vergèze

Gardois were surprised by tremors this Sunday shortly following 9 p.m. And for good reason, a slight earthquake was recorded by the tools of the French Seismological Central Bureau.

“This event was detected automatically and needs to be confirmed by one of our analysts”, specify the scientists on their website.

Magnitude 2,4

The earthquake was triggered between the municipalities of Mus, Vergèze and Codognan. Its recorded magnitude is 2.4. On the Richter scale, this represents a “jolt felt only by people at rest”.

Météo Gard recorded reports beyond the epicenter of the event. In Vauvert, Uchaud and Cailar people would have felt the tremors.
