An employee of the factory that manufactures fries, Bem Brasil Alimentos, in Perdizes, Brazil, lost her life last Thursday. The unfortunate 24-year-old, Rafaela Alves dos Santos, fell into the potato chopper.
According to our colleagues from “La Republica”, the victim was sorting potato peelings, on a conveyor belt then turned off. But, for some unknown reason, the device suddenly started up, causing the young woman to lose her balance and drag her towards the factory’s giant machine that chops the tubers. Her colleagues mightn’t do anything to save her.
“We regret the death of an employee. In accordance with our work safety policy, the investigation process has already begun and has been entrusted to the competent authorities,” said the management of Bem Brasil Alimentos.
