The Orion capsule of the US Space Agency (NASA) within the framework of the Artemis 1 program set a new record in terms of the distance it traveled from Earth, regarding 10 days following its launch.
And NASA announced, in a tweet on Twitter, today, Saturday, that Orion is more than 249,000 miles (more than 400,000 km) from Earth, noting that this is the longest distance traveled by a spacecraft intended for human passengers.
Today, @NASA_Orion will break the record for farthest distance of a spacecraft designed to carry humans to deep space and safely return them to Earth. This record is currently held by Apollo 13.

The previous record was set more than 50 years ago, by the Apollo 13 mission, which covered a distance of 248,655 miles.
There are no humans aboard the Orion capsule, as the astronauts are not scheduled to join until the start of the Artemis 2 mission in 2024.
Shortly before setting the record on Saturday, the Orion capsule entered lunar orbit.
