Another package containing contraband, worth $90,760 was seized from Donnacona Penitentiary, a federal maximum security institution, last Wednesday.
In this package, there were 364 grams of hashish, 90 grams of cannabis wax, 100 grams of tobacco, a hacksaw blade, a cell phone and four SIM cards, the Correctional Service Canada (CSC) said in a press release. .
“The (CSC) has a number of tools to prevent the introduction of drugs into its institutions [dont] ion detectors and drug detection dogs for the search of buildings, personal property, detainees and visitors”, specifies the organization.
The CSC ensures to reinforce vigilance and surveillance in connection with the introduction of prohibited objects into its establishments to ensure the safety of all. It is also said to work in collaboration with the police forces to “take action” with individuals who try to override these prohibitions.
“The CSC has created for all federal institutions a telephone information line which allows it to obtain additional information on the activities relating to the security of the institutions”, adds one.
